Guest Author: Lorraine Heath
She is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author and
although she has been writing historical novels since 1994, I have only been
following her regency romances since 2004 when I read and loved, “An Invitation
to Seduction”. Since then, all of her regency romances have been
bookmarked on my bedside table throughout the years, with the most recent read
being her 2018 release, “Beyond Scoundrel and Desire.”
I only know Lorraine’s historical romances so was very
surprised to learn that she also writes contemporary romance, paranormal
romance and young adult novels under multiple pen names, including Rachel
Hawthorne, J.A. London, and Jade Parker.
I had my first fan-girl moment at an RT Convention when
Lorraine was dealing out the cards at a “Hold-em-Texas” Poker game (appropriate
for a British born, Texan author!) Then, when we met again this year at RT in
Reno, Lorraine very kindly agreed to feature as a guest author on this blog.
I’m delighted to have Lorraine here to answer my quick author quizzing!
Hi Lorraine!
First, can you please us about your latest release and whether it posed any particular challenges to write?
My latest release is WHEN A DUKE LOVES A
WOMAN. I find all books a challenge to write but in this one I found it a
particular challenge to ensure that my strong and bold heroine was sympathetic.
She knows her own mind, is incredibly independent, and has always tried to be
realistic about her place in the world - and yet she has a bit of whimsy to
her.
What is next for you as
an author?
Next for me is THE SCOUNDREL IN HER BED which
is Finn's story. His past is hinted at in WHEN A DUKE LOVES A WOMAN. It was
also a challenge to write but I hope readers will find it a satisfying read.
I’m certain it’ll be a
satisfying read!Now, switching from
novels to travels...In your travels, which place rates as your favourite?
That's a hard one. I'd probably have to say
DisneyWorld. We had some wonderful and memorable vacations there when the boys
were younger.
The Disney Theme parks
are billed as “The Happiest Place on Earth”. Walt Disney certainly had an
incredible vision which has brought joy to so many. (Amazing to think that I’ve
read that he was once fired from a newspaper for “having no imagination”!!) But,
I digress...Which place is now the
top of your travel wish list?
England. I haven't been there since I was a kid visiting relatives, and my longing to see it again has been increasing.
I’m not surprised you’re hankering after a trip there and I can only imagine how much a trip there will inspire many more of your historical romances to be set in London. In all the highlights of your writing career, is there one moment that stands out for you?
There are so many moments when I've met
readers that have touched me deeply and made me tear up or outright cry that
it's difficult to choose one. I've met a soldier who reads my novels when he's
on deployment, a mother who escaped into my stories while she dealt with her
daughter fighting cancer, a writer who was inspired to write because of my
books, and people who have thanked me for bringing joy to their friends or
family members who have recently passed. I'm continually humbled by readers and
so appreciate them.
Thank you so much for being my guest today, Lorraine. I’m looking forward to catching up with you in New Orleans in 2019 for the inaugural Booklovers convention!

I hope you'll visit the blog again next Saturday when I'm joined by Janna MacGregor for my next guest author's quick author quizzing. Until then, Happy Reading!
Best wishes,
Alyssa J. Montgomery
