Eloisa James' Christmas Competition

Eloisa James is a Harvard University graduate who obtained a M.Phil. from Oxford University and a Ph.D. from Yale. As well as being a Shakespearean professor, she is an incredibly talented New York Times bestselling author who writes historical romance for HarperCollins Publisher. 

After being a finalist ten times for the coveted RWA RITA, her title Seduced by a Pirate, won the accolade. It was a huge honour and well deserved, however her fans all over the world are the true testimony to Eloisa James and her incredible talent to make us laugh, to pull at our heartstrings and to sweep us up into her characters’ lives so that they’re so real, we feel as though we know them.

Eloisa was a keynote speaker at the 2012 RWA (Australia) conference on the Gold Coast and I have met her since at RT Events and look forward to seeing her again as a signing author at the new Booklovers Convention in New Orleans next year in May.

Eloisa isn't able to join us on the blog today to answer the quick quizzing as she is extremely busy - especially as she now has an additional role in her life. A huge congratulations to her for her "recent" appointment to the position of Dean of her faculty.

    I love Eloisa James books! She is such a gifted storyteller, and her romance is wonderful. I heard her speak at that RWA conference and was totally impressed. A strong woman.

My guest today is an American romance author who’ll be in Australia again very soon and is to be a guest at an Australian Romance Readers Association Romantic Rendezvous on the 16 th   of August.  Now, although she writes fiction, she shares her name with a major fictional character from Edgar Rice Burroughs series of Tarzan novels! I’m speaking, of course, about Jane Porter! My guest today is a New York Times best selling author from Pennsylvania who has a Ph.D in Art History and who has taught at college level. She has a very frank article on her website titled “My First Sale” where she details her journey to securing her first contract. Like many published authors, she faced numerous rejections from various publishing houses saying that “I wrote a million words before I sold”. However, her resilience and tenacity of spirit has led to her having over 32 historical romances published in sixteen languages and with over six million books in print.
